I had a feeling that Revenue Retreivin might be a sort of return to form for E-40, and the above song, "Weedman" featuring Stressmatic, seems to be evidence in support of this theory. The part in the second verse about his friend getting a panic attack, pointing out that weed is a "muscle relaxer", etc, it's all vintage 40. Reminds me of when he cared less about following trends in rap, or even syllable counts, and just said what he wanted to get across.
